How To Make the Most of a Simple Vacation

Whether you are in the middle of summer break, or you just need to get away from school for a few days, a vacation can help you relax, de-stress and come home refreshed and ready to work. Vacations can be something as simple as driving somewhere close and staying in a hotel for a few days or as complex as a 5-night stay in Hawaii. Most college students would much rather go to Hawaii but can only afford a much simpler vacation. There are many ways to turn a simple trip into something memorable and fun.

Get Creative
Try doing something different during your vacation. Ask the locals about the interesting activities and sights around. Plan your vacation but also be spontaneous. Those moments usually are the most memorable. Bring along friends or roommates and make up games. Go places you have never been to, and take lots of pictures. Creativity is one of the best things to use when you travel.

Use Your Resources
You will be surprised at how many relatives you and your friends have that have a cabin, beach house or boat you can use for your trip. Don’t be afraid to ask, just make sure you keep the place clean and don’t cause any trouble. If your relatives trust you they will have no problem in letting you use their things. I grew up in San Diego and we always had my college-aged cousins drive down and stay a few days in our house so they could see the sights and go to the beach. They were good times and we loved to help.

Less City and More Nature
Usually colleges are in big cities with lots of people. Some of the best and easiest vacations involve nature. From national parks to beaches and hikes, you should consider getting outside and walking around. It is tempting to just lie in bed and sleep for a few days but you will be much better off getting a little exercise and spending some time in the sun.

Vacations don’t have to be complicated or expensive. You just have to be smart when planning where you are going and what you are going to do. A lot can be done in just a few days. Now what are you waiting for? Take your well-deserved vacation and have fun.
