Portfolio Manager Description
A portfolio manager is essentially someone who advises people on their finances. They are able to assist people with anything from personal finances to saving for their retirement. The main part of their job is to advise people on the proper investing procedures. Many people try to manage their own investments, but they quickly realize that it can become a very stressful full time job. Most people become really scared when they see their stocks starting to fall or see that the bank is no longer offering good interest rates. When the have a manager operating their account, they will not have to worry about tracking all of these details. People can rest assured that the manager will not do anything without the client’s permission. Instead they will simply advise the client on what they believe is best.
How They are Paid
Depending on if the portfolio manager is running their own office or working somewhere else, they will either work on a straight commission or what is referred to as a draw. When working for a company, the draw is essentially a small guarantee offered to sales people to help them get a start. The manager will receive any commissions that exceed the draw.
If people enjoy working with others and money, they should consider a career in this field. The salary can be huge for managers who have a large client base and plenty of experience. In addition, they will be able to make their own investments based on the knowledge they have gained.
