The national mean wage for computer engineers reaches $101,600 per year.
The highest concentration of this occupation is not in California or Washington state but in New Mexico, boasting that 2.02 percent of all jobs in the state are held by computer engineers. They are not the highest paid, however: The computer engineering jobs in New York state pay the most at an annual mean wage—that middle 50 percent’s average—of $115,240, followed very closely by Massachusetts at $115.190 per year.
California does come in third on the pay scale, though, at an average mean wage of $111,230 per year.
