You can also apply topical numbing agents to the patient before a procedure and remove sutures. As a dental assistant, you can also perform coronal polishing. Most programs to become a dental assistant take approximately one year, but there really aren’t any formal education requirements to become an entry level dental assistant, and many times, you can gain all the experience you need working hands on with a dentist.
