Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics also known as EMTs are responsible for responding to medical emergencies, often providing emergency care, as they transport the sick or injured to a medical facility.
EMTs often work with police officers and fire fighters in responding to emergency situations. They also need to quickly gather as much information as possible about how the incident happened, allergies, blood types, and basic medical histories is important, since that knowledge could save lives and the EMTs are the ones to give that information to physicians at medical facilities.

They also work with the sick and injured and must have personal protective equipment like masks and gloves. Since emergency services are needed 24 hours a day, EMTs and Paramedics often work irregular hours.
Potential emergency medical technicians and paramedics must have a High School Diploma or GED certificate completed before entering a training program to receive certification.
