Court Clerks

Court clerks work in court buildings and prepare information for judges, prepare docket cases to be called and contact attorneys, litigants and witnesses. Sometimes they are known as judicial assistants, deputy clerks, courtroom clerks, case managers and court specialists.

If you are good at reading, communicating, writing, giving directions, critical thinking, learning and reasoning, you will probably do well with this career.

As a court clerk you will keep case records on court orders and payment arrangements, issue probation orders, provide sentencing information, prepare summonses, communicate with court parties about scheduling and procedures, amend indictments, search court files and answer questions about payment, appearances, fines and summonses.

Job opportunities for court clerks are expected to increase. The average hourly wage for people with this job is about $15 and the average annual income is about $33,000.
