Credit Authorizers

Credit authorizers are responsible for authorizing credit charges to customers’ accounts. They sometimes have a title like credit manager, credit director, credit administrator or business manager.

With a career as a credit authorizer, you will keep records of customer accounts, file sale slips and receive charge slips, send statements to customers, create credit cards or charge account plates and analyze customers’ credit records.

If you are a natural when it comes to math, time management, decision making, communicating and reasoning, then you will likely be a successful credit authorizer.

To get on the right track to becoming a credit authorizer, you will need an associate’s degree. An educational program will give you a broad background and knowledge of subjects like clerical skills, transportation, math, customer service, administration, management, economics and accounting.

Be sure to look at what programs are being offered in many locations. Job opportunities for credit authorizers are expected to increase. The average hourly wage for people in this career is about $14 and the average annual income is about $30,000.
