Classic College Pranks

For some unknown reason, college kids love pranks. Perhaps it is the rush of possibly getting into trouble, or the new found freedom and desire to cause mischief. Whatever the reason, college kids all over the nation are constantly looking for good ideas on how to prank their roommates and teachers. There are many simple pranks that you can do, which have been done so much they sometimes make the prankster look worse than the prankee. Below are some good pranks that you can do that will leave a lasting impression and will be sure to cause quite the scare if done properly

Flash Mobs
Hopefully you have heard of flashmobs. If not, search on Youtube for flash mobs and you will see how awesome they are. A flash mob is basically a coordinated event for a group. You can plan anything, from a ninja squirtgun battle to a time freeze. Facebook is great for creating events and planning flash mobs on campus. Get creative and make sure someone films it so you can standing still, squirtguns, ninjas, etc. When done well, and with a lot of people, a flash mob can be the perfect prank.

Homemade UFOs
Want to freak everyone out? There are many how-to videos that will teach you how to make a homemade UFO. Some college kids a few years ago filled laundry bags with natural gas and people all over the city were going crazy. A homemade UFO will surely scare everyone if done correctly. There are many ways you can do it, just make sure that the object maintains a circular shape so people don’t just think it’s a balloon.

Start a movement
Many college kids have created national attention with groups like “Arm the Homeless”, “Bonsai Cats”, and made up political parties. A simple college prank, if creative and original, can easily gain national exposure especially with Facebook and Twitter. Get stickers, flyers, tshirts and stencils. Make a website if you are serious enough. The more serious you are the more it will spread and gain attention. Bonsai kittens was a fake company started by some college students that stuffs kittens in glass jars to make them come out in different shapes, and they definitely got a lot of attention.

A good college prank has to be funny, unexpected and clever. The best ones create lots of buzz and media attention without actually causing any damage or harm to the college or it’s students. Pulling off a great prank is going to take a lot of preparation, but it will be worth it. Just make sure that whatever you do, don’t get kicked out of school.
