Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
There is another job in the medical field which is very similar to a nurse practitioner called a physician assistant. They do have many similarities, a nurse practitioner and physician assistant can both prescribe medicine and treat illnesses and injuries without needing an M.D. Where they differ is that a physician assistant works under a licensed physician and are unable to open up their own practice. The pay is comparable for each profession. The advantage of becoming a nurse practitioner is the ability to open up your own practice and be your own boss. The advantage of becoming a physician assistant is that it is a much quicker path to practice medicine than a nurse practitioner. Your choice will depend on what position suits you best.
