Job description of a special education itinerant teacher
It is the job of these highly trained and caring professionals to implement each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) in a setting outside a regular school. They must collaborate with parents and school districts, and communicate the child’s goals to therapists and providers of other services. They must also attend continuing education opportunities and help parents become involved in their child’s educational program.
Children who are assigned the services of itinerant special education teachers may include, but are not limited to, those with speech and language delays, short attention span, behavioral issues, impulse control difficulties, low tolerance for frustration, or cognitive and motor skills delays.
