People who write in their journal every day, keep a blog, and write stories just for fun, are probably copywriters in the making. Copywriters write content for advertisers to use in marketing and sales publications or for broadcast media.

People with this job may have a title like advertising writer, account executive, freelance copywriter, web content writer, advertising associate, or production director.

Copywriters write copy that is used in materials that are used in the sale of products and services. They work with sales, marketing, and media professionals as well as clients and write drafts of copy to use in print publications, broadcasts, and websites. They revise existing writing, present ideas to clients, and help create advertising campaigns.

People with this career write everything from bulletins and letters to speeches and website content. They communicate with clients to decide on messaging, tone, and style. Doing research on products and audiences is also a part of this job.

People who make good copywriters are usually good writers, communicators, readers, listeners, critical thinkers, time managers, persuaders, and reasoners. They are also creative, sensitive to problems, and able to generate unique ideas.

Most copywriters have a bachelor’s degree. An educational program will help students gain a working knowledge of subjects like English, computers and electronics, customer and personal service, sales, marketing, media and communications. Job opportunities for copywriters are expected to increase quickly.
