Database administrators (DBAs) coordinate changes to computer databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. May plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases.
Database Administrators are often known as database analysts, database administration managers, database coordinators, database programmers, information systems managers, management information systems directors (MIS Directors), programmer analysts, and systems managers.
A successful database administrator needs to understand computers an electronics, customer service, English language principles, mathematics, and clerical procedures. Most database administrator positions require a bachelor’s degree, so be sure to check out the programs being offered in many locations.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average wage for a database administrator is approximately $35 hourly and $74,000 annually.
