Education Teachers at the post secondary level, most often meaning at the college, university, or postgraduate level, are responsible for instructing post high school students in courses in degree or certificate programs. These instructors need a high level of knowledge and level of education in their particular field, since they are teaching those aspiring to earn accredited degrees in the same subject matter.

Some instructors at this level teach some or all of their courses online. Nearly all teachers currently use e-mail and software in teaching and managing their classrooms. Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of basic internet programs is quickly becoming essential to teach at the college and university level.

An education teacher at the college or university level is expected to be well versed and knowledgeable in their chosen subject matter. Reading the latest ideas, theories, and research is essential in this position. Many institutions require teachers to conduct research and publish papers.

Most full-time faculty positions require a doctorate degree, though some positions accept a master’s degree.
