Coil Winders, Tapers and Finishers

People who like to work with their hands and use equipment, may make good coil winders, tapers, and finishers. People with this job wind coils used in things like transformers and resistors, bobbins, field cores, electrical motors, control equipment, and other electrical parts.

People with this job are sometimes called coil winders, coil finishers, armature winders, auto-winders, winder operators, assemblers, and cell workers.

Duties of coil winders include using wire-coiling machines, bending, cutting and stripping wire, attaching wires and insulation, and testing electrical parts. Coil winders also review job orders, keep records, decide what types of materials to use, and repair parts.
