Cooling and Freezing Equipment Operators and Tenders

Cooling and freezing equipment operators and tenders monitor the freezing and cooling of things like blood plasma, food, and chemicals by using batch freezers, freezing units, freezing tunnels, and refrigerators.

People with this job are sometimes known as production operators, refrigeration technicians, refrigerator operators, freezer persons, engine room operators, compressor room operators, and refrigeration leaders.

Cooling and freezing equipment operators and tenders weigh packages, monitor gauges and thermometers, keep records, correct machinery problems, clean ice off equipment, read dials, stir materials, and put equipment together.

They use tools and equipment on a daily basis including pipes, valves, fittings, panel control boards, and flowmeters to manage the rate, temperature, and speeds of machines.

People who are good at maintaining equipment, listening, communicating, critical thinking, instructing, and reasoning usually make successful cooling and freezing equipment operators and tenders. People with this job also have good hand coordination, vision, strength, and manual dexterity.
