Conveyor Operators and Tenders

Conveyor operators and tenders control and manage the conveyor systems, including speeds and routes, in factories and plants that move products between departments, stockpiles, vehicles, and processing stations.

People with this job are sometimes known as packing line operators, banders, process line operators, press operators, debarker operators, chain pullers, process operators, and assembly line tenders.

Conveyor operators and tenders alight gates, spouts, chutes, and deflector bars, clean and maintain equipment, weigh and measure products materials, use elevator systems, repair machines, manage conveyor operations by observing production and using controls, and keep production records.

They also communicate with other employees and supervisors as they coordinate production schedules, schedule shipments, and report malfunctions.

People who do well in this career are usually good at managing time, listening, troubleshooting, coordinating, monitoring, reasoning, and reading. They are also good with their hands and have a good sense of depth perception, hearing, and vision.
