Dredge Operators

Dredge Operators operate large shovels and suction devices to remove sediment and rock underwater. This is done for a variety of reasons, maintaining waterways, maintaining beaches, expanding harbors, mining, and fishing.

A successful dredge operator needs good manual dexterity for operating their equipment and responding quickly to changes, the ability to follow directions, mechanical skills to perform routine maintenance on dredge equipment, and many others.

Dredge Operators often need a high school diploma or GED certificate to be considered for employment. Be sure to check out the programs being offered in many locations.
