Excavating and Loading Machine and Dragline Operators run equipment and machinery responsible for digging and moving gravel and earth into trucks or onto conveyor belts. These operators most often work in the construction and mining industries.
Operators must be able to follow directions, both spoken and communicated through hand signals. Operators dig based on previous plans and efforts, so a successful operator must have the ability to understand and follow a written plan. Operators are also responsible for inspecting their own equipment, often performing maintenance and minor repairs.
A position as an Excavating and Loading Machine and Dragline Operator requires a highs school diploma or a GED certificate. Be sure to look at the programs being offered in many locations.
