Careers as Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technicians

Electrical and electronic engineering technicians assist engineers in building, designing, repairing, calibrating and maintaining electrical parts like controls, circuits and machinery.

They inspect equipment and buildings, assemble systems, test equipment, modify parts, troubleshoot equipment and estimate costs. Electrical engineering technicians use tools like measuring probes, microprocessors, multimeters and lots of computer software.

Electronic engineering technicians read blueprints, test electronic units, maintain equipment and test parts.They use their knowledge of engineering, technology, computers, mechanics, electronics, math, design and telecommunications on a daily basis.

The average hourly wage for electrical engineering technicians is about $25 and the average annual income is about $53,000. An associate’s degree can help you land that job you are looking for. Check out the programs being offered in many locations.
