Careers as Electronic Home Entertainment Equipment Installers and Repairers

Electronic Home Entertainment Equipment Installers and Repairers, also known as Home Theater Installers, Satellite Installers, Television Repairmen, among others install and repair low-voltage electronic equipment usually associated with home entertainment.

These installers and repairers are commonly encountered when installing a satellite dish or cable equipment. They also install sophisticated home theater equipment, including complex surround sound systems.

As with most installation and repair positions, there are two categories of workers. Field Technicians work on location, installing the components or repairing them without needing to take the component to a specialty shop. Bench Technicians work in specialized repair shops and repair equipment that can not be repaired out in the field.

It is becoming increasingly important to receive professional certification from a vocational school to be an Electronic Home Entertainment Equipment Installer and Repairer. Be sure to check out what’s being offered in many locations.
