Careers as Elementary School Teachers, Except Special Education

Elementary School Teachers are responsible for educating students in basic academic subjects, as well as guide their social development and other skills.

These teachers often teach one group of students a variety of subjects as determined by the administration and state standards. Teachers must be knowledgeable in these subjects and able to teach others the basic principles of these subjects.

Elementary School Teachers work in a classroom setting. Teachers work with a wide variety of children and parents, and must be able to handle many different personality types and be skilled at conflict resolution.

Elementary School Teachers require a bachelor’s degree, most often in an education program, then passing various state licensing requirements. Be sure to look into the programs being offered in many locations.
