Careers as Engineering Teachers, Postsecondary

Engineering Teachers at the postsecondary level are responsible for teaching students the principles of engineering that are used in designing machines, products, buildings, and other structures. Teachers will usually teach within a specialized are of engineering such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and many other types of engineering.

As a teacher at the postsecondary level, an Engineering teacher will be expected to stay knowledgeable and aware of new trends and techniques in engineering. They must be able to instruct others, answer questions, and resolve classroom problems.

In order to be an Engineering Teacher at the postsecondary level, a post graduate degree is required. A master’s degree is often the minimum level of education required, but most positions prefer candidates with a PhD.
