Careers as Fabric Menders, Except Garment

A Fabric Mender is responsible for repairing tears and holes in draperies, linens, parachutes, tents, and other products made out of fabric.

Fabric Menders add grommets to fabrics, trim edges of cut and torn fabric, patch holes, sew tears, and darn defects. They are also responsible for inspecting any repaired and repacked survival equipment to ensure that it still meets specifications. They also clean the fabrics as well.

Formal education is not typically required for a position as a Fabric Mender, but a High School diploma or GED certificate is very highly recommended. Take a look at the programs being offered in many locations.
