Careers as First-Line Supervisors/Managers of Agricultural Crop and Horticultural Workers
First-Line Supervisors/Managers of Agricultural Crop and Horticultural Workers are responsible for directly managing, supervising, and coordinating the work of agricultural crop and horticultural workers.
Because these managers are directly responsible for the quality of the agricultural product, these managers often inspect the crops and fields to determine when activities like spraying, weeding, and harvesting are needed.
They determine corrective actions for inefficient or unsafe work procedures, manage time and payroll reports, and typically conduct performance reviews, hiring, and promotions.
A high school diploma or GED certificate is usually required for a position as a First-Line Supervisor/Managers of Agricultural Crop and Horticultural Workers and a knowledge of planting techniques, agricultural science, or management is preferred. Be sure to look into the courses being offered in many locations.
