Property management is a sector within the real estate industry that focuses on the maintenance, regulation, and marketing of properties and structures. Property managers can manage residential properties such as a home or duplex while commercial property managers may manage larger apartment complexes or office buildings.

Typical activities of a property manager may include processing tenant applications, collecting rent, and balancing budgets along with maintenance activities including renovations, inspections, restorations and repairs.

In many locations property management courses will help students learn the local, state, and federal property laws and regulations, communication skills, and finance skills. Students will also gain a working knowledge of the real estate industry.
