Strange College Classes: The Edward / Jacob Debate Continues… in Class

Twi-hards can now put their Twilight knowledge to good use with the University of Alabama‘s interim literature course that’s based around the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. The Special Topics in Literature: The Twilight Saga course doesn’t just involve the Twilight books but delves into classic literature like Romeo and Juliet and Pride and Prejudice that influenced the series. Who ever though watching Twilight movies could count towards a grade!

Strange College Classes: The History of Beer

Westminster College students in Salt Lake City, Utah can stay and attend free interim classes such as The Chemistry and Biology of Brewing. While no sampling is involved in the lab class, students will get college credit to trace the historic roots of beer brewing, discuss fermentation, and analyze the chemistry and involved. How’s that for class credit!

Strange College Classes: How Would You Like to Attend Hogwarts?

This is the next best thing. One of the most popular classes this year at St. Catherine University involves broomsticks, potions, and quidditch: the Six Degrees of Harry Potter. In this 200 level class, students will read the Harry Potter books, essays on Harry Potter, and join the class discussion. Kudos to St. Kate’s for listening when an English Club posed the question, “If you could have a class on anything, what would it be?” There’s already a waiting list.

Strange College Classes: Rock Out to Rock Band!

New York University’s video game class was a big hit in 2009! The class, Music, Video Games, and the Nature of Human Cognitive, asked the questions why people are so easily consumed by video games with a focus on the psychology of music. This popular class had a waiting list!
