I’ve never been a morning person. My first semester at college I scheduled a class at 7:30 AM. What was I thinking?! I was thinking the class was limited and very hard to get into and it was a prerequisite for the courses I needed to take the following semester. Sometimes early morning classes simply cannot be avoided. If you’ve found yourself in this situation here are some of our best tips to help you get out of bed and on with your class.
1. Go to bed at a reasonable hour. I know this is hard to do since the party starts when the sun goes down, but your earliest class isn’t going to start any later. Know that the more time you give up to your social life at night, the less time you’re giving your body to rest and repair.
2. Wake up around the same time every day. By waking up around the same time every day your body will get into a routine. It will start to become much easier to drag yourself out of bed in the morning if you’re expecting it. This will mean that you need to give up sleeping in until noon on Sundays but trust me, it will be worth it.
3. Make a commitment. Have something you must do after you wake up. Maybe you plan to meet a friend for a jog or have an early morning study group. It is best if the activity involves another person. You’ll be less likely to sleep through something if you know someone is counting on you being there.
4. Give yourself enough time for breakfast. If your body is used to eating shortly after you wake up then your body will start sending hunger signals earlier. Eating breakfast will also help to wake up your body and get all of your systems up and running for the day. For some delicious breakfast ideas check out this post.
5. Set your alarm across the room. This means you won’t be able to snooze well into the afternoon. You will have to get out of bed to turn that annoying sqwak off and once you’re up, it’s easier to stay up.
Update:
6. Get the money shredding alarm clock. Now sleeping in will cost you — literally. If you don’t get up in time, this innovative and anonymous design will start shredding money. While it’s not on the market yet, it would be great incentive for you to get out of bed!
