Communications equipment operators are usually known as telephone operators or switchboard operators and are responsible for transferring calls and relaying information to employees.

These professionals transfer calls within a building, take incoming calls, relay outgoing calls, and sometimes help with emergency calls. Communications equipment operators also do things like take messages, give directory information, greet customers, and sometimes take care of bills.

Regardless of their background or experience, students can embark on a rewarding career as a communications equipment operator in many locations.
