Court Reporting | On-Campus Bachelor's Degrees

Students who think watching Law and Order is a treat, will love a court reporting program! Court reporters have the exciting job of recording all the gory, juicy details of court proceedings. Then they create verbatim transcripts of these events through stenography and prepare the transcripts for use by judges and lawyers.

Many people with on-campus Bachelor’s Degrees in court reporting work in attorney’s offices, courtrooms, or government settings and some even do freelance work. Court reporters are also employed by television producers and stations to provide real-time closed captioning of live programs for the hearing impaired.

Court reporters need an excellent command of language, a knack for attention to detail and the ability to focus for long periods of time.

In many locations a court reporting program will train students to be successful court reporters.
