Shane Inman, principal designer and owner of The Inman Company, an interior design, development and consulting firm with offices located in Traverse City Michigan and Chicago Illinois, is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interior Design.
Shane’s design career began in San Francisco and the neighboring communities of Sausalito and Mill Valley. Here he began his specialization in custom kitchen and bathroom design.
In the next phase of Shane’s career, he held a five-year partnership with a prominent Fortune 500 company as director of design, on-site designer, project manager and senior interior designer. It was in this capacity that he designed interiors for private residences in Miami, Miami Beach and Key West. Soon after that, his expanding expertise in export services allowed him to include projects in Turks and Caicos, the British Virgin Islands, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico.
As a Michigan native, Shane has also designed interiors for many private clients in Grosse Ile, West Bloomfield, Royal Oak, Grosse Pointe and Farmington Hills. While in Miami, Shane was creative consultant to the Miami City Ballet, Southern Florida’s largest non-profit organization, where he planned several highly visible events and galas.

Shane also provides real estate staging, consulting, event design and organizational services to his clients. The Inman Company takes pride in giving back to the community by being involved in many pro-bono projects, such as the 2007 Traverse Symphony Orchestra Ball, where The Inman Company acted as lead sponsor and event designer; the 2007 Traverse City Film Festival, where The Inman Company acted as event designer for acclaimed film director, Michael Moore; and the 2007 Ugly Kitchen Contest, where The Inman Company awarded a free $35,000 custom kitchen.
As a former columnist for the Michigan Home Resource Guide, a quarterly statewide publication, Shane educated and advised consumers about the importance of interior design in the building/renovation process. Shane has also been a guest writer for TAAR (Traverse Area Association of Realtors) and the Traverse City Record-Eagle as well as a regular guest on the Mary in the Morning radio show. Shane currently has a radio show called “Resale Reality Check” with the “Radio Realtor” on 106.7 YOU-FM and is a featured blogger for the Chicago Tribune at ChicagoNow.com titled “The Interior Design Savant”.
Through his extensive work in the total design of architecture, furnishings, lighting and art, Shane has captured the attention of a roster of discerning commercial and residential clients throughout the Grand Traverse region and the Chicagoland area.
Shane is certified as an interior designer by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), and holds the highest ranking professional memberships with American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and International Interior Design Association (IIDA).

Other Accomplishments: While he was still a student, Shane's work was selected by a jury of interior design professionals and educators to be exhibited at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. He also completed two years of protégé engagements with both residential and commercial mentoring firms before completion of his studies. He has served as a goodwill ambassador to Africa as a micro-economic business advisor and taught AutoCAD. Shane is also a past adjunct professor at his alma mater, Michigan State University, for the School of Planning, Design & Construction.
