6. Coca-Cola- Muhtar Kent has been the CEO of Coca-cola since 2008. He attended the University of Hull in the United Kingdom and graduated from the department of economics. Later he earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Case Business School at City University in London. Muhtar found his first job with Coca-Cola through a newspaper ad and worked his way up from there.
7. AT&T- Randall Stephenson has been CEO of AT&T since 2007. He attended The University of Central Oklahoma where he earned both a bachelor’s degree and a Master’s of Business Administration.
8. Marlboro- Louis Camilleri is the current Chairman and CEO of Philip Morris International, the makers of Marlboro. He received a degree in economics and business administration from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland.
9. China Mobile- Li Yue has been the Chief Executive Officer of China Mobile, a company worth $57.33 billion, since August of 2010. While he is new in the CEO position, he certainly has the credentials to back it up. He graduated from Beijing University with a bachelor’s degree in telephone exchange. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Tianjin University and a doctorate degree of business administration from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He also boasts the title of professor-level senior engineer.
10. General Electric- Jeffrey Immelt has been CEO of General Electric for over ten years now. He also recently took a political office serving as the Chairperson of the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness on the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. So where did this guy learn the ropes? He earned an A.B. from Dartmouth College in Applied Mathematics and later went on to earn a Master’s of Business Administration from Harvard Business school.
Well there you have it folks; the CEO’s of the top 10 most valuable brands. While two of them may not have graduated from college, all of them went. Five of CEOs even attended graduate school. Just remember with the right amount of education and a whole lot of hard work, success is very possible.
