Geography Education

Teaching geography will take you and your students to the far reaches of the earth, from India to Italy and back, all from the convenience of the classroom. Geography educators teach students about distant and foreign lands, their geographic features (mountains, lakes, volcanoes, etc.) and their inhabitants. The overarching goal is to better understand the earth we inhabit. Pretty noble right? Teachers and educators are most successful when they are enthusiastic about the subject, organized and enjoy working with young people and connecting with students. These traits and attributes when combined with education courses are a recipe for scholastic success. Teachers enjoy a stable career path, work-free summers and autonomy in day-to-day tasks. Educators have no shortage of choices available to them to help define their career, they can teach younger students at a junior high or older students in high school. Often they also have the option of focusing on an area of specialty within geography such as archaeology, physical geography or environmental studies.
