This is why many professionals, decide to go back to college in order to further their career. However, many prospective students are unsure of what they really need to be a successful student.

10 Things Prospective Students Need to Do Before Going Back to College:

1. Devise a plan. Ask yourself what you truly want to be doing in five or ten years. If you are not in the right career field, then determine what degree you need to pursue to get you to where you want to be.

2. Decide if you are truly committed to furthering your education. Going back to college is a huge decision. It takes time, dedication, and drive. Decide whether you are truly ready to dive back into homework, projects, and papers.

6. Get support. Let your friends and family know that you are thinking about going back to college. The support that you earn may just be enough to finalize your decision.

7. Discuss your decision with your current employer. Many employers are willing to help employees that are working to further their education. Even if an employer will not help financially, discussing how this decision may affect your current job and career as a whole, may prove just how important a good education truly is.

8. Look at scholarship and financial aid options. Apply for all of the financial help that may be available to you and do so early. Making the effort to apply for financial aid and seek out scholarships may save a student thousands of dollars.

9. Visit schools, take to advisers, and ask questions. Be sure that the school you choose is the best option for you.

10. Be proud of your decision. Deciding to go back to college is a difficult, expensive, and time consuming decision. Be proud of your commitment to your education and your future.
