According to the Graduate Management Admission Council and the Bureau of Labor and Statistics -the base salary for an applicant with a Master’s in Business Administration degree (MBA) ranged from $81,250 to $92,300 annually. This does not include monetary sign-on bonuses that can range from $17,511 to greater than $21,000. Despite the existing recession, almost all of the business sectors are offering compensation packages of $100,000 to $140,000 to the job applicant upon graduation. This data substantiates the earning potential of the MBA and the fact that it far exceeds the applicant who simply has a bachelor’s degree.

As in every career, a strong reputation is as important as the degree itself. Although a bachelor’s degree is adequate for numerous entry level positions in business – it does very little to appropriately prepare the student for such roles in executive management, information systems, and the contemporary world of e-commerce. The private and public sectors recognizes this certainty and will only select the graduates with the finest educational background which suites the present need of the employer. An MBA degree certainly fits this reputation since the time and effort spent on the program reveals the true tenaciousness of the applicant. In addition, an accompany specialty or concentration may bring better credence to the applicant which is extremely significant in this economy. For instance, a MBA with a computational finance concentration is highly valued in the banking and utility industries. Although this particular MBA requires more than 46 credits – it may be well worth the investment because it pays an average of $93,479 annually with a high gross range of $175,000 not including the bonuses.

Each semester is very different from each other. The core courses are designed to introduce the graduate student to various segments of business beginning with its fundamentals in marketing and accounting. Most important, is the emergent segment of e-commerce which has opened countless opportunities never seen before in the history of business. MBA courses in e-commerce may include database systems and management that are in high demand because companies are finally realizing the power of Internet sales- that have already exceeded $173 billion dollars.
