Careers as Counter Attendants, Cafeteria, Food Concession and Coffee Shop

Counter attendants at cafeterias, food concession stands and coffee shops serve food to customers from counters or steam tables. People with this job sometimes have a title like food service assistant drive through order taker, cafeteria server, cafe server or worker, food service worker, food service assistant, deli worker or line server.

Duties of these counter attendants including keeping serving areas clean, taking orders and delivering them to kitchens, serving customers, packaging food for take out, preparing bills and accepting payment and refilling food containers at serving counters.

With this job you will use kitchen equipment like dishwashers, ranges, ovens, stoves, coffee makers and blenders on a daily basis. You will also use technology like computers, credit card readers, touch screen monitors, point of sale computer terminals, data entry software and point of sale software.

If you enjoy working in the kitchen and have good communications, reading, listening, reasoning, organization and instructing skills, you would probably do well as a counter attendant.
