Careers as Designers, All Other

Designers specialize in making drafts and drawings either by hand or on computers, often specializing in one area or industry. Nearly any product and location requires a designer of some kind, from the computer or phone being used to display this site, to cars being driven on the road. Nearly everything started from a designer’s drawing.

Designers are often self employed, work for design firms, or are part of a company’s design team. The amount of time spent in the office or traveling depends on the area of specialty, so find out which field is best for you.

The level of education varies depending on what specialty area the designer picks. Most require a bachelor’s degree, but some areas require an associates or professional certificate. Be sure to find out what level is needed for your dream job then check out the different programs being offered in many locations.
