If you are an organized person that likes to get things done, this is a good job for you. People who are ambitious, hard working and dedicated to the arts usually make good agents.
Some agents work for athletes to help them get on a team, organize publicity events and fundraisers, develop sponsorships, manage media attention and help with the personal branding of the athlete. If you are into sports but would like to work more in a management or strategic planning career, this is probably a good fit for you.
The level of the industry and specific area you want to focus on will determine how much education and training you need to be successful. Some agent and business management positions require a bachelor’s degree in the fine arts, performing arts or business management while others are more dependent on past experience. Compensation also varies greatly depending on where in the industry you work and at what level you are manage an artist or athlete.
