Anesthesiologists
Anesthesiologists are a key part of lots of medical procedures and play a large role in making sure patients are comfortable.
As the person who administers anesthetics and sedation drugs during medical procedures, anesthesiologists play an important role in making a hospital patient’s stay comfortable.
Other tasks of anesthesiologists include monitoring patients, providing life support, keeping records, assisting patients and working with other medical professionals to help a patient throughout their hospital stay.
Anesthesiologists need to have a working knowledge of medicine, biology, dentistry, chemistry, math, psychology, physics, administration and management. To land a good job you will need your master’s degree or a Ph.D., M.D., or J.D.
If you are a hands-on person that likes to help others, this is a good choice for you. You will work with tools like arterial line catheters, cardiac monitoring units, stethoscopes, tourniquets and gas anesthesia apparatuses. You will also use computers and software to keep logs and records.
Successful anesthesiologists are usual good reasoners, communicators, managers, decision makers and analyzers. With this job you will have direct contact with people, work in a hospital or other medical setting and work hard to make a patients’ visits as good as possible.
