Automotive master mechanics fix all types of vehicles and work on most parts to ensure they are working properly or to replace them if necessary.

Automotive master mechanics fix all kinds of vehicles from big trucks to compact cars to buses. They work on almost every part of a vehicle to examine damage, repair or replace parts and remove broken parts.

People with this job also test drive cars, test parts and examine belts, steering systems, hoses, spark plugs, brake systems, fuel systems, wheel bearing and other parts. They also do routine maintenance and tune ups like oil changes and lubrications.

As an automotive master mechanic, you will use tools like claw hammers, auto scanners, ball joint separators, gear puller tools, center punches, lug wrenches and lost of different kinds of software.

To make it big in this career you will need an associate’s degree and a working knowledge of mechanics, engineering, computers, technology, electronics and customer service.

Job opportunities for automotive master mechanics are expected to grow slower than average but if you have the right training, you will most likely be able to find the job you are looking for.

The average hourly wage for people with this career is about $16 and the average annual income is about $35,000.
