Carpet Installers

Carpet installers use lots of tools to prepare surfaces for carpet and then measure, cut and install carpet.

Carpet installers lay carpet, padding and trim. They install carpet from rolls or blocks and blend seams, take measurements and cut carpet to fit, prepare surfaces to be carpeted and more.

As a carpet installer you will use tools like glue guns, power saws, knife blades, utility knives, staple guns, shears and tensioners. You will also use yardage, scheduling and project management software to stay on top of your busy schedule.

Successful carpenters are good at math, using their hands, giving directions, making decisions, managing people and resources and communicating.

The average hourly wage for carpet installers is about $17 and the average annual income is about $37,000.
