Chiropractors

Chiropractors help patients stay healthy without using drugs or surgery. They advise on healthy lifestyles, make adjustments to the spine and refer patients to other practitioners when necessary.

Chiropractors help patients by adjusting their spinal column and treating other parts of the body relating to the nervous system. They examine patients, diagnose problems, manipulate the spine, and advise on things like light, heat, rest, water, nutrition therapy and exercise.

Chiropractors help patients maintain their general health but do so in a way without using surgery or drugs. They help patients find ways to live a health lifestyle and assist with adjustments to the spine when necessary.

As a chiropractor, you will keep health records, analyze X-rays, evaluate patient’s neuromuscularskeletal health and work with health practitioners.

To do this you will use tools like dynamometers, electromyographs, pelvic benches, traction tables, inclinometers and pelvic traction equipment, and that’s just the beginning. You will also use different kinds of accounting, resource planning, scheduling and medical software.

If you decide to pursue a career as a chiropractor, you may specialize in a certain area like neurology, pediatrics, internal disorders, orthopedics, diagnostic imaging or even sports injuries.

With this job you will work in a health office and will probably have 40-hour work weeks and some chiropractors are on call. To land a job in this field, you will need a master’s degree and possibly a Ph.D. or M.D. All states require chiropractors to be licensed.

An educational program will teach you all about medicine, biology, therapy, counseling, psychology, human resources, education and personal service.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts job opportunities for chiropractors to increase quickly. It also reports that the average annual salary for people with this job is about $66,000 but that some chiropractors make more than $96,000.
