Every workplace necessitates strong communication skills. Individuals with the ability to interact and communicate efficiently — interpersonally and through different forms of media — will have a competitive edge. With an additional 15.7 million wage and salary jobs expected to be created in the coming years, now is the time to earn a Bachelor of Science in Communication and capitalize on this tremendous growth.

Students cultivate strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills that can be seamlessly applied in practically any career field. The curriculum focuses on group dynamics, team building, and resolving challenges in the workplace; developing dynamic, interactive multimedia presentations and websites; utilizing new media and software applications used in business, institutional, and home environments.

The Technical Communication emphasis provides opportunities for students to develop technical writing skills that are in high demand, due to the rapid advancement in the technology and electronics industries. Students learn to identify their audiences, determine the components of appropriate business correspondence and technical reports. Within this emphasis, students develop a working portfolio of technical documents that illustrate their proficiency in technology and research, document design, and a consistent writing style with business and technical communication. With technical communication skills, students are prepared to write users’ guides, instruction manuals, training materials, proposals, and presentations.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Communication program are prepared for careers in many fields, including advertising, marketing, organizational communication, public relations, publishing, human resources, law, criminal justice, politics, public administration, ministry, social services, opinion and market research, fundraising, civil service, international business, and management.
