Some who go back to college do so on their way to a new career while others do so to advance the career they already have. Because college can be expensive and time intensive, going back to college can be a difficult experience for some people.

While things like better pay, more confidence, expanded knowledge, and a stronger foundation are benefits of life after graduation, there are also benefits students can reap while they are still in school.

Here are ten reasons to go back to college you may not have thought of:

1. It’s a good excuse to quit your current job.
2. Take classes for hobbies like golf, tennis, and art that would actually cost much more in the real world are cheaper through a school.
3. Students are often eligible for discounts on everything from groceries to sports.
4. You can finally go back to that all-pizza diet you’ve missed so much.
5. Your bookshelves will be filled with textbooks so you seem more intelligent when people visit.
6. You can tell your children they have to do their homework since you are doing yours.
7. You get to use the “everyone does weird things in college” excuse.
8. Whenever you don’t want to do something you can truthfully say you are busy studying.
9. You can join that a cappella group or club you always secretly wanted to join.
10. It will give you a good reason to wear a toga.

It can be difficult to go back to college and get back into the student mindset. However, the life of a student can be very fulfilling and expanding your skills and knowledge will prove to be extremely rewarding. Remember, your wall gets jealous when you tell it about the doctor’s office, he wants a diploma too.
