What Do Employers Think of Job Applicants with Online Degrees?

The benefits associated with an online degree are many: the flexibility to study at your own pace, to continue working while completing your education, to raise a family while earning your degree, to attend the best school for your field while living on the other side of the world — and the list goes on. But how are online degrees perceived by employers? Is there still the same level of credibility from earning an online degree as a traditional degree?
- In a recent survey conducted by the Distance Education and Training Council, 100% of employers surveyed reported that employees who had graduated with online degrees performed better on the job as a result of their experiences.
- In the same study, employers reported that employees who had an online degree compared favorably to employees who had earned traditional degrees.
- In an Edventures 2005 Continuing and Professional Education report, 62% of 505 employers surveyed (including companies such as Bank of America, DaimlerChrysler, and the United States Air Force) thought that online education was equal to or superior than classroom education.
