Architects, Except Landscape and Naval

Architects have the interesting job of designing and overseeing the construction of buildings, parks and even communities.

Do you find yourself fascinated by buildings and their design? As an architect you will get to design buildings then help make sure they are logically laid out, safe and economical.

Everything from office buildings and schools to churches and hospitals are designed by architects. Some architects even design bigger projects like entire campuses, industrial parks, urban center and communities.

Architects who design buildings, rooms and outdoor spaces are usually involved in everything in the process: designing, engineering, budgeting, managing, supervising, communicating and construction.
Sometimes they even help analyze the impact a building will have on the environment, choose a site, decide how to use resources and how much it will cost, assist with contracts and oversee construction contractors.

You will probably work with other people like engineers, urban planners, interior designers and landscape architects quite a bit.

This job also provides a unique blend of office and on-site time. They work with clients and create building designs in their office and also visit construction sites to follow up on how projects are progressing.

To land your dream job as an architect you will need a degree in architecture, some work experience like an internship and a license after you complete the Architect Registration Exam.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an increase in jobs in architecture. It also reports that the average salary for architects is about $70,000 but that some architects make as much as $119,000.
