Air conditioning and refrigeration systems are responsible for toasty dens in the winter and perfectly chilled cars in the heat of summer. Air conditioning and refrigeration technicians make it possible for people to live in sweltering places like Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Air conditioning and refrigeration technicians are often called HVAC technicians and they install, maintain, and repair heating and cooling systems in a variety of settings. People with this career make homes, hospitals, offices, schools, industrial plants, and many other buildings, comfortable to the people who live and work in them.

This job require excellent communication and people skills since air conditioning and refrigeration technicians often meet face-to-face with clients and work through problems with them. They must also be able to work well with their hands.

In many locations air conditioning and refrigeration courses teach students about temperature control, electronics, equipment design and construction, maintenance, and repair. After taking classes and completing and apprenticeship, students take the state exam to get their license.
